Audra Lowe: I’m a little pregnant, just a little. You notice that I’m very pregnant right? Well, finding maternity clothes that actually make you look and feel good, that can be really, really tough. It has been for me but recently, American Baby Magazine asked me help women find great clothes at a great price for their May issue and we’re taking your behind the scenes of the photo shoot. Take a look.
Jessica Hartshorn: Hi! I’m Jessica Hartshorn from American Baby Magazine. I’m the Senior Lifestyle Editor there. You’ve probably seen me before on Better TV but this is my day job. Doing a story for the magazine, it’s a makeover story for our May issue. Out Editor-in-Chief Dana Points came up of a concept. She found out that Audra was pregnant. She’s been really fun and easy to work with because our readers are always asking like “How should I dress for work now that my body is changing and I’ve got this lump and my old clothes aren’t fitting.” People know some of the stories to go to but really, a lot of readers are in a loss of where you can find great pregnancy clothes for work.
So, this is a maternity makeover story for our May issue. It’s going to be two pages. We’re going to shoot Audra in five or six different outfits and we’re excited.
Audra Lowe: And I was excited too being that I’m clearly not a professional model, the entire team took such good care of me. Let me be myself and I had an absolute ball and it takes a lot of prep work on behalf of the magazine to get to this point, picking out clothes, shoes, accessories, all to help women find maternity wear that goes beyond the basics at all price points and one of the best parts was working with a great stylist Kristen Petliski.
Kristen Petliski: Audra is pregnant and she was having trouble finding maternity clothes that fit her style because when women get pregnant, they want to maintain their personal style. In these days, it’s very easy to do that because there are so many options out there and great new maternity lines.
Jessica Hartshorn: We’re hoping when our readers see this fashion makeover, they can be inspired to go out and get a couple great maternity pieces for work. We’re talking mostly to our pregnant readers of course here for American Baby who are wondering “What can I wear beyond the basic black dress that I may have found a gap?” There’s a whole range of options out there.
Audra Lowe: And the magazine had a specific goal in mind.
Jessica Hartshorn: Really inspiring women to know that they can look great when they’re pregnant.
Audra Lowe: I had so much fun. And Kristen the stylist has some advice. She says buy a couple of key pieces that you can mix and match and remember, you do not have to sacrifice your style just because of the baby bump.
