Avoiding Food Poisoning

From nausea and vomiting to cramps and diarrhea, no one wants the case of food poisoning. To help prevent food born illnesses remember to follow certain safety practices. Starting from how you buy your food in the store, while shopping keep raw meat and poultry away from other food in your cart and make sure they’re in separate plastic bags to keep them from cross contaminating any other foods, also shop for your cold goods last so they stand the less amount of time in room temperature. The USDA says always refrigerate perishable food within two hours, refrigerate within one hour when it’s above 90 degrees outside. If you have a long drive from the grocery store you might want to consider taking a cooler with ice to store your groceries in. Once at home poultry and ground meat should be frozen immediately if they won’t be use within one or two days.
