How to create a dummy unit?
Creating a dummy unit is to help map editors to create new hero abilities in Warcraft III TFT. It is also used to preload abilities to speed up the loading process to avoid lag in-time.
Creating A Dummy Unit: Run Warcraft Editor > Object Editor Shortcut Key: Press (F6).
Select "Footman" as a sample. Then, Right click > Copy > Paste.
Right click > Rename Custom Unit, Rename "Footman" to "Dummy".
Abilities- Normal, Delete the default footman abilities.
Add Ability- Locust: Locust unable player to select the unit.
Add Ability- Invulnerable: Invulnerable protects unit from any spell effects and physical attacks.
Add Ability- (Add Custom Abilities), Add to dummy unit and place in map for preloading to avoid lag in 1st cast.
Art Has Water Shadow - False, Hide unit's shadow while in water.
How to create a dummy unit?
Art Model File- Footman, Select Custom > Type: .mdl, Hides unit model from player's view.
Combat- Attacks Enabled: None, Prevents unit to use physical attack on wandering nearby enemy unit.
Combat- DeathType: Can't Raise/Decay, Avoid unit to be resurrected and hide unit dead body when they expire/die.
Movement- Speed Base: 0, Set to auto follow default speed.
Movement- Type: Fly, Allow unit to travel over unaccessible area (water/cliff/ditch/hole/tree/etc).
Pathing- Collision Size: 0, Allow unit to stack over each other within the same position.
Sound- Unit Sound Set: None, Avoid unit from making noise when they expire/die.
Stats- Can Flee: False, Avoid unit from moving other position when they are attacked (taunt/etc).
Stats- Food Cost: 0, Avoid unit consuming food supply.
Stats- Hide Minimap Display: True, Avoid unit being detected in minimap.
