For the unusual gift, we think that any kind of a manual, a book on how to take care of baby, something that's personalized. 'Hot Mama' has been a hot seller for us, because it's a great girlfriend gift for your friend who is getting ready to have her baby. And it just has great suggestions about how to stay attractive, how to feel good about yourself in those months when you are putting on extra pounds maybe a little edgier than what grandma would give to her daughter. But it definitely is a great girlfriend gift and very apropos for a new young mom.
The unusual gift might be the item that the baby will grow into, because mothers get so many things for those first two-three months stage period.
Nichole Weatherly: You never have a too many clothes, that's for sure, but you tend to get a lot of the same sizes and it's always nice if you get older sizes, because all of a sudden you run out of clothes and you have to run out by wardrobes.
When packing shower gift, don't only buy clothes for newborns, buy larger sizes that can be used as the baby grows.

Krystal Eustice: You can find almost anywhere online if you do a search for layout registry and it will give you list of items that you need as a new mom, and your friends and family can go there and see what the new mom is going to need and the mom can also use it to register with.
Female Speaker: What are some of the best advantages in your opinion of a registry?
Krystal Eustice: Of course, getting what you want, but also like the strollers and car seats, it's really important for the mom to come in and select those items herself. That way, it's going to be something that's going to work for her, and it also gives people direction in what to buy for the new mom, because a lot of people come in, and they have never had babies before and are not sure what to buy for the parent. So if they have a list in front of them, it's much easier for them to make a selection.
Female Speaker: We have talked about all of these great shower gift items, but let's walk around and take a look at all of these things. Well, it certainly looks like rockers have gotten a lot more flexible since I had a rocker.
Krystal Eustice: Yeah, the postures are real popular right now.
Female Speaker: What are the different types of nipples, and which ones are best for each type of feeding.
Krystal Eustice: Well, if you are breastfeeding they usually recommend you use a wide-based nipple, that way there is no confusion when the baby is switching back and forth between the breast and the bottle. This is a fun gift to give and it's also practical. A bath towel here, and some baby soaps and lotions, and there is a few bath toys and a little fingernail scrubber in it too, and of course, the bath tub.
Female Speaker: Well, as you can see, the options are unlimited. There are so many different things that you can buy for shower gifts, but I think the general consensus is it's a really good idea to register. That way you get exactly what you want, and it's also a great idea to purchase from the registry when going to a shower. That way you can make sure that your mom to be gets exactly what she needs for her new arrival.
