Back Massage Techniques 2

(Music Playing) After finishing the warm up of the back, we can start with some deeper techniques, some techniques that work on the deeper layers of the spinal musculature and back musculature. One technique is the double handed deep Effleurage of the upper hip area. I use one hand on top of the other and I slide along the upper edge of the hip bone. I tried to have as much contact as possible with my hands so it does not feel too poky. (Demo) You can always do in between like some broad Effleurage with a little bit of side stretch or alternating cross strokes. (Demo) The next technique is a Spinal Stretch. You use one hand to fixate the muscles of the back and use the other hand in an upward sliding movement to stretch the muscles away from the other hand. (Demo) This is a really good technique to release some deep tension of the spinal musculature. (Demo) You can do this same technique like, you can do it like an alternative technique by using cross arms. This will give you more leverage and is especially good technique for people who are a little bit shorter. (Demo) The next technique is a stretch of the spinal musculature towards the sides. (Demo) You try to get your thumbs and palms in between the spine and the musculature and you try to stretch the musculature away from the spine. Try to have even pressure on the palm and the thumbs. Otherwise, if there is too much pressure on the thumb it might feel too poky. (Demo) If you do not want to switch sides, you can do the same technique on the other side using your fingers, so you try to get your fingers in between the spine and the spinal musculature and try to stretch the spinal musculature away from the spine. (Demo) Some people do not like the difference in the feel of these two techniques so in that case, you would have to switch sides. (Music Playing)
