Jeff Plumb: Okay, now we are going to look at back hand and Alios would you mind dictating few of the main points of how to play the back hand?
Alois Rosario: Yes, sure. So, on the back hand technique we look at your starting position and your finish position. So, let's just have a look at Jeff's starting and finishing position for his back hand. So, the start position is nice and flat in front of him, and as you can see you can see the full face of the bat.
His finish position is out up and forward, finishing around shoulder height with his arm fairly straight. Okay, you can see now that the upper part of his hand is facing towards the roof at the end. So, the start position nice and flat, finish position with his four hand side of his bat facing up towards the roof.
The third key part of your back hand is how you have your feet. So, you need to be facing towards where you want the ball to go with table from his backhand which is quite different to most other racket sports. Most other racket sports you are turned side on for a backhand. In table tennis you haven't got time to be doing that and as you can see Jeff is very square on, facing towards where he is hitting the ball. He is also always hitting the ball from in front of his body.
