This week on BFX, we are bowing to the awesome power of our viewers in creating a swamp monster.

This is the last Moguleen episode so we’ve decided to pull out all the stops. And after getting tons of emails, comments and forum posts, we have no choice but to create this green beast.
Gary, spin the wheel.
Here’s what you’ll need for this build. A painter suit, two yards of 1/8 inch foam, some spray glue, toilet paper, paper towels and two different shades of green spray paint. Here are some things that I have left over from previous builds that I’ll be using. Makeup kit, liquid latex and soft nose putty. Our swamp monster will have a textured swamp body, face mutations and seaweed hair.

Safety first, when dealing with paint and glue fumes, wear the right kind of respirator. First, hang up your painter suit. Then, spray a section of the suit with glue. Next, take a strip of foam and spray the back side of that with glue. Before attaching the foam, you want to create interesting textures like vines and barnacles like so. Once you have a patch of foam that is swampalicious, attach it to the suit. Repeat and repeat.
As you move to the back and lower regions, you can apply less foam. Finish up with a two-tone paint job and you are ready to go. The first step for the makeup is the bald cap. Next, build up a mound of nose putty along the eyebrow ridges. Cover with liquid latex and then apply a base layer of liquid latex to the nose and cheeks. Attach a flap made out of paper towels to hide the actor’s nose. And then, apply another generous portion of liquid latex. Twist up and wrinkle strips of toilet paper and then attach them to the top of the forehead with a little bit of liquid latex at the top. Once you have your swamp do in place, spray the crap out of it with hairspray. Now, you have to paint everything with green makeup. I used one color of green as a base and then two darker greens for detail. Don’t forget to paint your hands green and then you’re done.
It’s time for the test film.
