Hi, everyone. Welcome back to Le Gourmet TV. So I have to admit I’m not a huge fan of meat loaf. But I do firmly believe that anytime you can put bacon and blue cheese in a dish, you’ve got a winner. So we’re going to give this one a try.
So in this bigger bowl, I’ve got a half pound of ground pork and to that, I’m going to add an equal amount of ground beef. So to this, I’m going to add three tablespoons of bread crumbs, some thyme, and one egg. We’re going to add some whole grain dish on mustard, and one chopped onion.
Now, the best tool for mixing this is your hand so you just want to use a claw motion, dig your hands in, sort of get it through your fingers and mix it together. It’s a little bit messy but it is the best way to get it done. Now, I did forget to add some salt and pepper so I’m going to wash my hands and add that in before it’s too late.
So now that our meat’s all mixed up together, we’re going to cook it in this glass baking dish. What you want to do is take your mixture and just pretty much build yourself a log. Once you’ve got a good shape, you just want to break it apart down the center. Give yourself a bit of oil.
Now the next step is to take this blue cheese, and we’re just going to chop it up. You can crumble it if you want but sometimes it doesn’t crumble so well. So we’re just going to roughly chop it. So now we take about half of the cheese and we crumble it into the center of the meat loaf. And then we close the meat loaf up around with the cheese. And then take the remaining blue cheese and put it on top.
Now, we take the bacon. We just lay the bacon over the top, covering our meat loaf. Now if you’re looking for this recipe and you’re on one of our syndication partners, come on back to Le Gourmet TV, and if you’re already on Le Gourmet TV, click at the bottom and a new page will open with the recipe.
So now we pop our meat loaf into an oven at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes and then we turn it down to 330 degrees Fahrenheit, and bake it for about another 40 minutes until done.
So this is the point in these recipe videos where I pull out of the oven the final dish and we do a little presentation on the counter top with a nice rotation. But, as you can see in the other frame there, it didn’t quite work out. So we don’t have a beauty shot at the end of this video. But I can tell you that if you like blue cheese and you like bacon, that’s the meat loaf for you.
