Balloon Bull Tutorial
Hey everybody, it’s Mr. Fudge, your Balloon Man. And today, as a tribute to my alma mater, we’re going to make a bull. And what we’re going to do is we’re going to have two balloons to start out and make the horns, go down make the face and then make the rest of the body.
You’re going to need two balloons with about a hand’s length on each. And the way I start this one because of the shaping is I’m going to have my first balloon, I fold and pinch and fold, then fold back, pinch and hold. As I’m holding it, I pinch off and twist, now you can let go and make a year twist. That’s going to hold this in place as I get the next one ready. Again, I’m going to fold and pinch, let the air in, fold, pinch, let the air in and pinch off and twist then I can let go. And now, this gets tied into my first balloon and set up to make the horns.
Now, I just want to make the back of the head which is going to be very small. Then I make a small bubble for the first eye then I make a small bubble for the second eye and wrap it around. Right now, the balloon is coming out on the wrong spot. So what we’re going to do is just pinch something out and tie between the eyes so it’s hidden and wrap it back around this bottom of the balloon. And what that’s going to do is get us back to this point. From here, I’m going to use the green to make a small bubble, a medium bubble and a small bubble. That’s going to be our upper portion of our bull’s face, and twist and tie that together like so.
So, right now it looks kind of odd but that’s okay, we’re going to fix that in a moment. We’re going to make a bubble, small like one-inch bubble followed by a one-inch square foot that’s going to be the bottom lip for the calf or the bull.
Then again, we’re going to go back up, twist it to the head. You can almost deflate that second bubble. You can make a second bubble there. I just deflated it because it’s not necessary because the only bubble they see is this front one. At that point, you’re going to twist both of these as one so that you get a neck, come down for your front legs and back up, make your body, come down to your back legs and back up, put that together. And now that holds everything together and we can fix the body and the tail in a second. I’m now going to rearrange its face so it looks appropriate. The key to this is to pull these pieces out and wedge the eyes in between. And now, it’s going to be the heart that holds this bull head the way it’s used to be so that it looks appropriate as a bull.
There you go, we have that right there. At this point, we can –- I’m going to pull the green part back up to make the body a little thicker so I’m going to take off a piece here and tie that so it’s the right size. Tie it in the body. Now, he’s got the weight of a bull. Then at the last part, I’m going to make a year twist. First, tail, get rid of the excess that we don’t need, tie it off and stick to the design. At this point, I wedged the legs forward and backwards just like putting a middle bubble in between so that it stands up a little straighter. Make sure everything is rearranged and then the sharpie art, and so we get our nice USF bull.
