Hi, I am Randy Daytona, World Champion Ping Pong Master. The Killersping Crew and I are going to teach you a few of my signature moves and after you fail at those, a few basic ones as well, because as Master Wong would say, “You must learn to crawl before you can walk” or something like that.
The forehand smash is a spectacular high speed put-away shot. It can be used as a quick counter play to take advantage of an opponent’s bad positioning, or on a rally were the opponent has played the ball too softly.
Move your whole body into the ball and hit the ball while it is still rising. Try not to put any spin on the ball by hitting it as squarely as possible, so you can feel the ball go through the rubber to the wood.
Notice the sharp sound. This is the contact point. The forehand smash is clearly distinguished from a loop that is a flat racket contact when the ball has flat trajectory. It carries very little spin, which makes it harder to return.
It is difficult to generate enough power to finish the rally with a backhand smash but it keeps the opponent under constant pressure and it forces a mistake or a loose ball that could be finished with a forehand.
