Male : We are here in Jason Grilli’s house. And Jason Grilli is a pitcher with the Detroit Tigers. Okay, what we got here is we got some red tie, one of lot of peoples favorite because there’s a lot of different varieties that goes with kind of green, and red margins all the way up to pink and to deep maroon, but very low in maintenance. We’ve doing a great job with these. You just prune it once in the spring. But these I know we just put them last fall. Probably we have nothing to do with this until next summer or where you’re on break because you’ll going to be on the All Stars. You got at least have one day to come home and take a look at this right?
Jason Grilli: I hope not. I hope I’m on the All Star game this year. So we’ll see.
Male: The other one is this gold leaf duranta. The nice thing about this one is this rich golden color. It does have kind of a little bit of blue flower on it. I know that we have prune back some of the some other plant here but Jason I think before you leave, we have to prune this guys back so by the time you got back they’ll be nice and full and flashy again. So we’ll prune those back probably 6 or 8 inches and that will be the only thing you have to do to for them this year.
Another palm tree you have here is called an adonidia palm or Christmas palm. You know in Central Florida they’re kind of borderline as far as their hardiness but being in the pool area, they’re protected a little bit, they’ll probably do just fine. They are a great palm in this area because of their slow growth and it’s kind of a natural plant that they will drop--well they’ll always natural plant. That’s kind of funny natural plant and you just sat there and go uh-huh. So basically any thing I’m telling you, you’ll believe.
Jason Grilli: You’re the pro man like I said. Hey this is my oasis that’s all I care about.
Male: But it’s a great plant because it naturally drops its foliage you don’t have to actually go and prune it because the leaves will fall off themselves. The other one we got here is xanadu philodendrum. Now when I say philodendrum, most people, no I don’t want that thing. That thing is huge because salon philodendrum is the one that gets 12 by 12; 12 foot tall, 12 foot wide. This is the dwarf version of it because obviously we don’t want something to be 12 foot tall.
Jason Grilli: And we don’t want to overgrown into the screen.
Male: Probably not. Your wife will be really, really upset with me, in about 6 months because she would actually say Andy what did you plant for me? This one actually gets to 2 foot tall by 3 foot wide.
Jason Grilli: And hopefully I’ll be out to your nursery there picking out the annuals while she’s yelling at you.
Male: Now another one we got back here. You pruned back pretty good Jason that is the dwarf ixora and it’s kind of getting back to twigs. Most people don’t understand is that when you prune it back especially in the beginning of March or at mid March is that the plant is actually going to come back in 2 or 3 weeks they will have new foliage on it and flowers. So it’s a good thing to take it back now.
Jason Grilli: I hope I didn’t take too much of it.
Male: No, you did an awesome job man. I’ve trained you really well. We’ll go down here and take a look at this fountain grass. Jason, you did a great job here, let me help you out with this dandelion here. You want to take that in maybe.
Jason Grilli: This is basically what the Red Sox are kind of in everybody side this year becyase they are the world champions. So, we’ll just go and pick that. The championship trophy is just going to be picked up like this weed.
Male: I want to show you. This is probably the most beautiful plant you have right here. That is your red fountain grass that you did a great job cutting back. You did exactly what I told you to do because if you don’t prune it back what happens when a new foliage comes out is that now you have the old brown foliage with the red foliage. And it’s like, okay, something is wrong with that plant. Cut her right down, you see everyone is doing along the highway, so they must know.
Jason Grilli: Well, you know the other thing is I hope you are going to show people what it really looks like instead of just--
