puppets. Other tips, alright. Tip 2 lip sing, make sure you always and close the mouth on each
syllable now you noticed how my bottom jaw is opening and closing, not too much my top jaw
because a lot of people when they operate a puppets they do this, hello. That is like flipping your
lid and you don’t want that, very painful too when you’re a puppet. So make sure you thumb is
moving up and down and make sure you open and close the mouth on every syllable so don’t do
this. Hello my name is that wont work.
Okay you can even hear me if you do that. Okay let’s talk about making a puppet walk, a lot of
times when puppeteers put on puppets for the first time, they make the puppet glide. Looks rather
strange, kind of makes me look like a ghost and I ain’t no ghost, so give me a little bounce when
I walk. Alright that makes it look a little bit more natural. Now, how about dancing, on mic
stands you can do this, well hands to the left, head to the right and back and forth. Give it a little
bounce, that’s kind of a traditional puppet type of dance. You see it all the time, yeah.
Anyway make sure you always have eye contact too that’s really important. You see how I’m
looking at you because I’m paying attention to you. Yes, well hello there. Make sure you’re
doing that too if you’re acting with other puppets on stage, eye contact. So if a puppet character
was talking over here but I’m now necessarily talking to him, at least I’m looking at him. Just
like you would if you were in a conversation with somebody you will pay attention to them
wouldn’t you? Well at least some of you would, well I have to do that too as a puppet, it makes
the character seem much more real. And that’s what was driving for, realism. that’s a big way for
