Bass Drum Foot Positions

Here is an example of the heel-down bass drum stroke. [Demonstration] You might want to take notice how the front part of my foot does not break contact with the footboard of the pedal. That is very important. I will now show you the heel-up method. Notice again, the only part of the foot that breaks contact with the pedal is the back part of my foot. [Demonstration] I’m sure you notice how I’m able to get a lot more power out of that stroke and that is because I have the weight of my leg coming down with my foot. Next, I will show you the double bass drum pedal and its uses.
