Be Anywhere Drive Review
Sometimes I wish that I could clone myself because then I get so much more down with the time that I have. Well, maybe I don’t really want to do that because being the tech guy in the family I spend so much time at mother-in-law’s house or in my grandma’s house helping get their computers up and running.
Well, today I’m going to show a way that you can actually help access computers from just about anywhere you are. You don’t actually have to go to their homes and we’re going to do that today with a little device called BeAnywhere.com and the idea is that I go into an internet café or I go to my laptop on the road and I simply plug this little guy into the side of the computer and what happens is it’s going to automatically load up a little program and when that program starts up after I put in my user name and password it’s going to give me a number different options to choose from.
I can control the remote desktop of any computer that I’ve loaded the software on before. I can transfer files between those two computers. I can even sync folders so that I don’t have to go look for certain files. I can just say hit sync and if I pre-arranged which files that I want to sync up it will do that as well. I can create links that I can send off to family and friends, so say I want to send you know a relative. I’ll link to a folder on the PC then I can send that to the mimic I should look at maybe a picture a folder full of pictures.
And the cool thing is, is that I can put the timer on it and I could even control how many times they can download the files in that folder, so it’s pretty cool. Right now, I’m going to show you how the remote desktop works because this is probably the most powerful feature of this type of software, so I’ll click on remote desktop. What you’ll notice is that once I’m log in to the computer I actually get a representation on the computer that I'm at of the actual computer that is here and behind me we’ve got this Toshiba laptop that we’re going to control that we’ve loaded it on.
And you can see that if I were to scroll over here and click the start button on this computer right away the start button on that computer actually starts and we can go up to different menus you’ll see that I can open programs. I have a complete control that can save files that can erase files. I can start programs. I can look at videos or pictures. I can even listen to music based on the internet connection I'm getting on this computer is really going to give me the performance. However, the idea is that now I can control all these different computers up to a certain amount.
The service costs about 10 bucks a month, but I think they can give you a discount if you sign up for a whole year. I think there are a few companies out there I mentioned that I use GoToMyPC.com, check it out. They are pretty competitive, but if you want to be able to make more use of your time without actually having to cloning yourself you might want to look into a software like this.
