If you have just become or thinking about becoming a Personal Trainer, take a moment to realize that different functions in business, functions that are needed to run a successful business, and then you can choose your career path accordingly. Some people will complain about working in a gym environment having a deal of distress of the boss, or the corporate things that have to be done. But once you understand the bigger picture, you therefore might be more comfortable working in a gym setting because of the trade offs that are met , and then you do not have to spend the time, or the money, or learning curve to require.
Now if you just become a Trainer or about to become a Trainer, the four primary routes. Now there are other routes to become a Personal Trainer. Here are the big four, Firs of all, working for a branch of major, corporate-owned gym or health-related facility and by health-related facility could be a chain of the hospitals across the country to work in a fitness center, and such an example. You could also choose to work for a small chain or even independent gym or health-related facility. Now there are trade-offs with that. Such things as economy of scale, budgets advertising, and we will get into that in a moment. You could work as an independent trainer, training people in their homes at a neutral site, like a health care facility or gym, or even your own facility like a studio. So you could be a business owner and that is such where actually having physical location such as your own gym or you could also work as an online personal trainer.
These are the big four. Now there are different derivations of course. The big thing is you need to know the general business functions that are applicable to any business, and the once that applies to personal trainers. First, of all is the content. You need to know what information you are going to offer your client and prospects. Now this could be specialized knowledge, it could be generic how-to information. It could be books and reports. It could be simply what you teach them in one on one training sessions. It could be group setting so you need to know the content and how are going to deliver that is what the first business function right there and has been a service business such as personal training.
Two, continuing education. Now, it does not necessarily I mean formal continuing education credits. It also means requiring new knowledge in order to expand your services or help your clients. So let us say you are running your own gym, and then you offer traditional weight training in cardio advice, but you decide to expand your business into nutrition counseling, wellness counseling, and even offer some other service perhaps such as massage therapy or something similar. These are things that can be done to meet the means of your clients in your area. You will be able to get an education now the question is do you get that yourself, and you are out sourcing even on school, do you by home study courses. You will have to determine what that is, and then marketing.
How will you acquire more clients and spread the word about your services, and in that, that is prospect thing. Thus, if you work for a chain gym, they will do a lot of marketing for you. They will have advance in price promotions something gets people in the door too up sell them to your personal training services. If you are working for a very small gym, you may actually have to go out and bring the clients in, sign them up for the gym, and try to set them up for your personal training services. So you have to know what you are going in before you enter.
