Beginner's Guide to Adium - #3 - Chatting with family and friends on Adium

Hi this is Mike Callahan Dr. File Finder. Welcome to part three of our special butterscotch.com 10 part series on Adium. On this segment I’m going to talk briefly about chatting with the people you’ve added to Adium. And some of the things that you could do I’m going to pick on my unsuspecting friend Harold just to show you. You could see here that IM keeps our most recent conversations in here, so I can see what were taking about yesterday or February 27th. Now while I’m chit chatting down here, I can add emoticons, which are icons that convey emotions. It covers a wide range of emotions here. I could insert those into my text. If I would to get upset with Harold, I can block him which stops him for contacting me I can also take and insert hyperlinks. And a hyperlink, if I wanted to go to, send Harold to butterscotch.com a hyperlink will be giving him a text link to click on that takes him to URL. As you can see here, he would see butterscotch, but it would really be the URL. I can also open up a web page, takes me to Firefox. If I want, I can also change my text color, I could make it red, green, blue, darker blue and I can also change my font. So if I want something different, if I want a different size, if I want it bold or italic I can make it like that, select it and then my font is changed. So, while you’re chatting, Adium gives you lot’s of options in this one you can have encrypted chatting, I’ll get to that in another segment and you can also send a file, look at transcripts and those are a lot things that are covered in another segment. So this is chatting in Adium, gives you a lot of options and that concludes part three.
