Beginner's Guide to Adium - #5 - Sending Files to IM Contacts with Adium

Hi! This is Mike Callahan Dr. File finder. Welcome to part five of our special butterscotch.com 10 part series on Adium. Now in this segment I’m going to look at sharing data by being able to transfer files between you and your contacts. You can do that by highlighting the contacts, right clicking the saying send file. Pick the like that you want. Click send, brings up a dialog, and when the file is transferred you're done. Another way you can do it is to highlight the contact, click contact and say, send file. And in preferences, you can go to the file transfer tab and if you desire you can click on automatically accept files and images now that would open you up to give and receive files and images from anyone, which would not be wise. You can also make it so that it’s only the people in your contacts lists. Personally, I never accept files no matter who you are and then you could also select where you’ll save files to. So that’s transferring files in Adium you can use it to send photos or documents back and forth whatever you like with your contacts and that concludes part five.
