Okay now the secret to making a flat, we’ve just cut around doing a conventional so you’re going to get a bump and a flat spot bump, flat spot.
So now that we’ve done these. What we have to do is alternate the width that we’re doing the stitches. So let’s go in and instead of pushing that to the back, let’s put the right one in front.
Now, we’re going to grab that string so don’t let that striker catch you. I'm going to grab a string and go and sew the front just like so.
So instead of pulling a back towards you, what you’re going to do is you’re going to push out away from you. Let’s try that again.
So around, and you’re going to push away from you just like so and so now you’re going to put off. So let’s go.
So in the front, round, and then come up to the back, so that front, around and to the back, in front, and then around.
Now, the secret to this is that you cannot make a flat panel by doing this stitch that you’re using here. You have to alternate it because what you’re doing is you’re reversing the way that you’re pulling it off the needle. And you’re reversing where the string is going to be. So if I did the same stitch, when I go to turn the material around, I'm still going to get the space-bump-space-bump.
So when I go to do the next line, I have to do it the way that I’ve just showed you before. So basically, every other line will be the way that you see right now. It’s in front, and push away. And now, we’re on the last one, the front and push away.
So now if you pull it towards you, see how that gap now is getting bigger. That’s because we reversed it. So now, this line here, we’re going to do it back the way we just did it before. Okay, so behind, and off and behind and off, and behind, and off.
And that’s how knitting. You got this flat, beautiful on one sided so this makes crochet very one side.
One side is going to look really flat, on the other hand, it’s going to kinda bumpy, but it all depends which side that you’re going to be displaying. And again, the sky is the limit. And you can alternate it too if you want. Maybe you want a section of your material that’s flat and not bumpy. Sky is the limit, basically you can do whatever you want.
Okay, so see that, look at that, now the gap is even bigger. So now, we’re going to turn around again, and because we want that flat spot to remain bigger. We’re going now to put our needle in the front, wrap in your material, round and push back, and push back.
So this is all I know when it comes to knitting, I don’t know too much, my mom just showed me how to do these two stitches when I was a kid, and I haven’t dabbled in any patterns with knitting, but this is how I know to explain it. It’s simply as possible, and I've never done any sweaters or anything like that in knitting only in crochet. Look at that, we’re in two-minute, number 4 in this video. And look how much farther we’ve gotten, so remember I said what we’ve done now is we’ve created this side to be the bumpy side, but the other side, we’re creating a beautiful flat piece just like you see here, nice and flat.
And that is the basics of knitting.
