Knitting is actually very simple and it’s not just an old ladies craft. They can be done by anybody. The way I preferred a knit is on this loom knitting. That’s L-O-O-M and I've done serious videos using those.
And this here is a scarf. And as you can see even though it’s round, we can still do our flap panelling beautiful scarfs. And advantage of doing loom knitting like this is that you’re not going to drop in one of those stitches. They are so obvious. They’re right in front of you so you won’t ever drop on it.
With the conventional knitting, just your knitting needles so I called column chick sticks. And now, let’s get started on how to use the chick sticks.
Okay, wrap in your interior round of your hand twice. I am right handed, so wrapping around your left hand, take the back over the front, the back. Now again, over the front and I’ll push up and let the drop. And what we want to do is grab your left hand, chick stick and put into the center of that.
You know just grab your right hand one and what we’re going to do is just slip it so you can just use your hand here, your finger just stabilize so that it doesn’t slide off. And you’re just going to put it behind by into the same circle. So if you look at from the angle, you can see that this circle is all the way around both. We’re going to let this stacker hang list, so keep that out of the way. And with your right hand, you’re going to grab the material and go around the back of the right hand chick stick.
So now, you have it going all the way around the two and now the one on the middle. So you’re now going to pull this back whatever speed you feel comfortable and you’re going to flick it, so it catches that string. And then you’re going to press forward. And what we’re doing it by pushing for whatever the circle is here, that is the exact size of this stitch. So the bigger you need on the bigger stitch. So we’re going to put that one back or to the left hand side and we’re using the left hand side now to build, and we just pull this over again.
So going into the very next one, that we just made, going up on the under side again, it goes all the way around both. Grab a new material and go all the way around that back right hand one. Pull it down and then flick, and then push up. And then you can put in that back and see how I'm using this finger here to stabilize these strings from falling off.
Again, next stitch. So you want to make sure that you keep working not just at the point but down here as well because that is what’s keeping your consistent stitch all rises. We’re just going to keep going. Now what I'm going to do is 10 stitches, and then we’re going to turn this around it and show you how to do your very first line.
So this is how to get started. This is probably the hardest part of basic crochet. I'm not showing you any patterns, just the basics on how to a very simple scarf or flat panel whatever you’re intending to do it with this thing.
Now at times, do you see that? See how I've cutting a piece of the string? You don’t want that, so make she pull out back out and re-insert so that at the nice clean circle. The reason for that is if you don’t, knitting is not as lovely as crochet for being forgivable and you will eventually see that in your final product.
So again, go as long as you want to, go as short as you need too, whatever you’re doing with this project. This is the basics.
Now, you see I've cut another string. So what I want to do is pull it or gently. I don’t have to pull it or all the way. And I’ll just make sure I don’t have any strings like that happening.
So that is your very first line. And let’s stop the video here, and we’ll work on the second portion going on your first line all the way across.
So what we’re going to do is just all the strings will be facing down at the bottom and you will be ending up in this position.
