Hulu keeps a log of all the shows and movies you've watched when signed into your account. You can choose to rate shows on a five-star scale to tell Hulu your favorites and least favorites. Hulu then learns about you, compares the shows you like with the shows other like-minded Hulu users have enjoyed and makes more targeted recommendations for Hulu shows you may like.

Beginner's Guide to Watching TV and Movies on Hulu #9 - Your Hulu History In your profile you’ll see a section called history and a section called recommendations. Let me briefly explain what those mean. Your history will show you all of your activity on Hulu like shows you’ve been watching and when you watch them. From here you can also rate shows and choose to make this public or keep it private. This allows you to see where you’ve been spending your time on Hulu. The recommendation section will first display shows you may like and this is base on what you’ve been watching and subscribing to on Hulu. It’s a great way to find new things to watch. There are also videos you may like and you can sort it through them using these filters on the left. If the show doesn’t interest you then you can click on not interested so Hulu will know not to recommend it to you anymore and not to recommend shows like it to you anymore. This helps Hulu learned about you. You can click here if you’ve seen the show before which also helps with future recommendations and to get new recommendations, just click on Refresh.
