So, we are going to expand a little bit on the bend and tapped chords that we had in the last podcast. This time we are going to use Harmonics, Tapped Harmonics and before I play a phrase what I want to do is just kind of explain the concept to how to play 'D' here at the 7th fret and just reach over and just lightly touch my finger at the octave point. Here is 'D' at the 7th fret the 19th fret is also with 'D', one octave higher.
Now unlike the last podcast rather than actually tapping that fret, what I am going to do is just barely touch this string at that point were the, right over the fret. You can hear how our harmonics comes out. If I were to do the same thing 5 frets above it you would hear that you will get a two octave harmonics in this case that will be the 12th fret and then 7 frets above and I will above a 5th above the notes, that will be an 'A' that comes out. So, it's a neat little trick with the right hand there. Now if I were to bend the note and try hitting some tapped harmonics in contacts to the bend phrase I am just bending that 'D' up a whole step again and, as I am bending I am going to hit that 19th fret I am going to tap the 19th fret again I am not pushing into those string I am just barely touching the string right over the 19th fret.
So, I am bending and doing an 'E' I get a new harmonic there. Bring it down to a 'C' move your finger to the 5th fret and then, in this case I am hitting the two octave harmonic right between the pick ups here on this guitar. Again you can see I am barely touching the string. That same harmonic would be over there at the 10th fret so you got. So, if I were try that same concept on the 2nd string may be bending the 'G' to an 'A' here lets see that would be, look like that. So, I am bending the 8th fret upper hold the fret hitting a harmonic at the 20th fret, resolving in and then the two octave harmonic there, its line next to the pick up. It's like that. So that's a little bit about tap harmonics for your lead guitar technique.
Hi! This is Giles Martin. I am here at Abbey Road studios to talk "Can't buy me love". "Can't buy me love" was recorded in the 29th January 1964 in Paris not here. The reason why The Beatles is in Paris is at that time they coached and toured. The chords as we learn in the acoustic part are 'E' minor to 'A' minor, 'E' minor to 'A' minor 'D'minor7.
