Benefits of Visiting a Chiropractor

Mark: My name is Mark, from Burton Michigan. I've visited a chiropractor before when I have had muscles tightening up, and back actually went out, and I had been able to get relief from that. If I visited more on a regular basis, what would the benefits of that be?

Venu Akuthota: Hi Mark, so the short answer is, I don't think you would have any additional benefit by seeing the chiropractor, frequently on a regular basis. Usually chiropractic works best for acute pain and doesn't work as well for chronic pain. There have been no studies to show that it helps with preventing lower back pain. I would instead focus on something more active, something like an exercise program that will help prevent back pain rather than something passive where someone does something to you.
