Best Beer Guide - Part 10/13
Male: This is the Biere de Garde from the La Choulette Brewery. It’s Belgian of course and let’s see what people think of it.
Male: Well—what day is it? I’m kidding. To be honest with you, you can tell it’s a quality beer but it doesn’t really leave any impact. Its like you drink it doesn’t really have any—I don’t want to say its blend because it is not but it doesn’t really strike any cord maybe its just because I had about 18 of this right now its okay but its like vanilla.
Male: I want to agree with that but at the same time it’s not because I had 18 of this because I have probably have about 25. For a Belgian, its not special. It’s because we expect so much for Belgium beers in terms of character, in terms of texture and especially in terms of innovation. This is not special to me.
Male: Now I’m going to disagree with that one because while it’s a little light in body it is not like as complex as lot of beers we’ve tried and that I must admit I think I killed some of my palate with some of the beers we’ve tried.
It is a standard farmhouse style in that it has those aromas that you wouldn’t necessarily want to associate with beer like horsiness or sort of you know barnyardy sort of smells. But that actually is something that is prize in this sort of a style because it blends a very unique flavor and I for one I don’t think this the Biere de Garde I've had. It’s very nice.
Male: Here is my point of view. I like it. I like it that it’s not particularly strong, not particularly flavorful. I like the fact that it’s a hell of a lot milder, not because I'm just used to using drinking bud. But I don’t know I think it’s like the fact the first time it was like—totally light, totally not—the kind of flavor that used to and I sort of got it. This to me is something I would drink in summer. That’s all I can say.
