Speaker: To see how this is going to work. Usually they'll just pay a five, just see what happens.
Jess: A Proposition Bet is a great way to hustle a few free drinks and a meal.
Speaker: Paul, Jes and Alex have come to that local greasy spot. Jes is going to try and get a free coffee with a classic Proposition Bet. The three cups' scam. While, Paul and Alex look on, Jes begins her scam.
Jess demonstrates the scam]
Jess: Well, if you get it right, I'll buy you something, if you don't get it right buy me a coffee.
Speaker 2, tries the scam.
Jess: You can't do, you are such a little freak you are, you should buy me a coffee just for the kick of it.
Speaker 1: You are going to buy her breakfast anyway?
Speaker 2: I'll buy her breakfast, I'll buy her lunch as well if she wants.
Speaker 1: So, what's the secret of the three cups scam. Like all Proposition Bets it's impossible for the mock to solve. It's all in the way Jess sets out the three cups. You'll remember that the cups alternate mouth up and a mouth down. When she lays the mouth for herself to turn them over, the outer cups have mouth down, but when she lays them out for the mock, she lays them out the opposite, way up, with the outer cups mouth up. So it's impossible for the mock to copy what she did, and get all the cups mouth up in three moves. Very sneaky. The mock never had a chance.
