Audra Lowe: -- about saving money here, but it's not easy for women or men to do. It's difficult. So what are some other ways to keep our dollars? Rhiannon took to the streets to find out. Take a look.
Rhiannon Ally: We all know men and women have different ideas about money, but cash is tight. So we had the streets to find you ways to save money at home.
Thomas Lumpkin: Of course if you are at work, no one is home, turn off wall electricity. Even when you are home, at the work, try to be preservative with electricity. Only turn on what you need. And I found doing that saves me a lot on my electric bill.
Cheryl Scott: We don't go out to eat any more. We used to go out quite a bit. Now, we take turns cooking dinner and eating healthier as well too.
Steve Whitman: We tend to do our laundry with cold water now instead of hot water, and try to conserve that way, and less time in the shower.
Female Speaker: I only buy when things are on sale. If chicken is on sale I buy in bulk or if steak is on sale I try to buy in bulk. That to me is a biggest money saver in our home grocery bill.
Mark Scott: We cut back a little bit on vacations. We used to go to Vegas quite a bit. And now, we have cut back on that and just one big trip a year.
Female Speaker: Change the oil, check the oil, change the oil, fluids and every thing like that instead of taking it to the shop. He'll do it or even I do it.
Helder Mira: Riding my bike. So I've been riding mostly around Hartford whenever I need to. Taking the bus, saves on gas. That helps save in the long run at home.
Patty Rosati: I have in the past washed plastic utensils again and reused those. Coupons, actually big time coupons. We go online coupons.com, can save lots and lots of money. It takes a lot of times sometimes, but it can cut your bill in half.
Rhiannon Ally: Money saved at home, well that means extra money for shopping.
That's where I am headed now, just don't tell my husband.
