Hi everybody, this Brian of betweenthelakes.com. I am here to give you guys another free details. And today we are going to talk building awesome rock using a really simple scale, it is called the pentatonic scale and it is only 5 notes because penta means 5 in Latin and it is easy to play because there is realty not a lot going on. You can kind of mold to what you want and the two scales I am going to use today are really interchangeable, this is just really one scale. It is the G major pentatonic and E minor pentatonic. Now those are both the same, they both have the same notes. They just start on different and I prefer to think of it as an E minor pentatonic because the pattern really closely mimics the blues scale. It just does not have that flat fit in there and you can check out on my blue scale to kind of get the same run down on how to build sort of.
So, we are going to start of with E, G, A, B, D. And it is the basic notes of the scale and it just runs up. And up the octave which is really which you want to kind of use when you are in the soul. And you can go to the website and grab this tabs and the tabs. I am about to play, to kind of show you how you go about constructing them. And you pick your notes and a lot of times, it will be first as your first learning and then eventually you kind of learn what you like and what you do not like you will just naturally move towards what is pleasing to you and it is really one of those things that you just got to play a lot you know and I can really to say, here is what, every time because you do not do that. And you use a rhythm kind of to break it up and then you will use style and styles are big one. That is that crazy wide vibrato penta harmonics, Benz and stuff, that kind of stuff is really what rock just kind of this great attitude about it and if you needed some examples that I will listen to Pink Floyd, David Gilmore, he is amazing when it comes to a lot of this style. You just kind of look and you can really pick up on what they are doing just by listening, So, let us try this leak here. I am not gong to use any style, I am just going to pick some notes out of the in E minor pentatonic okay?
And I really did not add much style to it besides for just kind of a rhythm, just kind of a fill. So, let us say you do want to add style to it which you do of course and you want to add some Benz and stuff and that is really not that hard to do, you are just going to add some Benz, add some vibrato and we are going to modify with this just a bit that leak to be like this.
And, you will notice I am playing clean so, that is a great way to listen to you know, how you really sounding a lot of times had people turn on to distortion and I am just there. You had distortion when you are ready to play it for real and that is great but while you practice, try to stick to clean so you can kind hear a little bit of the flubs. So now that you have got kind of an idea of which you want to do, you want to you know add,
And you kind of add these Benz, you add these flourishes in there and it sound really nice. So, the next thing you are going to do is grab the scale and start playing stuff and I did all the work for you. I put together two jam tracks for you and one is a little quicker, one is kind of a slower knocking on heaven’s door fill and you can go to the website, get those or about 2 and a half, 3 minutes long of just rhythm stuff, nothing else gong on, plenty of room for you on top of and I will just go crazy with that and a bonus tip, you can now grab those jam tracks and you can throw it, free audio editor on the internet and mp3s again and throw them up in a form and we can discuss them and I think everybody would like to hear him so, thank you again for visiting and head over to the website, kinds of stuff, anything you want to see, anything you want to hear, you let me know okay? You guys have a great day.
