Hi everybody this is Brian from the betweenthelakes.com. I am here to give you guys another free guitar lesson and today I am going to talk about the search for the tone. And the tone because it is kind of an elusive perhaps mystical kind of thing and a lot of people get confused or a lot people do not really understand what it means and by tone, I just mean how a player can flex what they want to save you their guitar and through their equipment and believe it or not, the equipment is lesser important than how you play because think of it this way, if you gave a cheap guitar, cheap amp or a substandard by most people’s definition, guitar to your favorite virtualistic guitars, they are going to be able to make that guitar that amp combo sound pretty amazing just because that they are that talented so, think of a lesson about you know, what you play and more about how you play so, do not get too wrapped up with equipment but having said that, equipment can be an important factor.
And I say this because in a lot of styles have their particular instruments side. Blues has the Stratocaster with the single coils, rock a lot of times uses Gibson’s, perhaps a Les Paul maybe a PRS Paul Reed Smith with a horn backers, jazz often uses a hollow body guitars with horn backers in there or perhaps not even that, perhaps acoustic. And country music players often times use Telecaster to get that plain kid of sound. And guitars has a different sound but it is not the end only Johnny you can play in there, there is a lo of blues, guys have telecasters, there is a little rough guys who play hollow body guitars so, this tone idea of having a guitar to match style is kind of nude is some instances but it can help achieve a certain style, a certain tone just by emulating perhaps your favorite guitars so if you really want to sound like Steve Larry Vaughn, you need to get yourself a strap with a you know the single coils and you need to hook yourself up through it, threw a band and push it maybe get a tube screamer and the equipment chain there too.
And the point is you can get close to the tone but you are not going to be able to play like Steve Ray Vaughn just like the instance you buy a hollow body guitar, you obviously not going to be playing as well as Joe Pass or any of those famous guys. But it can help you get the tone and that is very important to a lot of people so, equipment chain is the next thing I ant to talk about and you can probably search in the internet and find the equipment chain of, find out really what your favorite guitars place so, if your favorite guitar is placed on certain style of guitar you can kind of use that as a tip into the direction that you want the sound of, they are using you know a hot humpback or next the bridge, you know maybe that is what you want to be doing. You want to find a guitar that is going to match that if you are using a guitar amp, maybe you want to find something that styles typically matches that to get that tone but you will never going to sound like them until you practice a lot and you try to emulate their style so, remember there is a credit and distinction between the two. So, and I really cannot say a lot about playing with their style because that is just something you got to learn, you cannot go out and buy that is kind of in a two different thing. And a lot of the guitars that end up giving ever often fail not because I can afford the guitar but because they cannot afford the time to develop that style that really defines who they are as the guitars. So, do not get mixed up with thinking that tone is all about equipment, it is not the case, not at all. You can take a very cheap guitar and make it sound incredible if you are talented enough so, remember, just not to get that. So, thank you so much and I did not play any guitar today because I am just giving you a long information about tone. So, moving on, there will be probably more lessons, more knowledge available on the websites so check it out. Thank you, bye.
