Hey, everybody this is Brian Here to give you guys some free guitar notes and today I am going to talk about the top five tips that I have learned over the years to help you with practicing and practicing is kind of one of those words that no one likes to do because it is not fun, no one likes to it down and feel like, alright well, here is what I am going to do and it is kind of stand offish term for it. But here is five ways that you can go about practicing with those. Perhaps so bad that kind of take the edge off of it and the first tip I want to share with you guys especially for new guitarists but these also comes for advance guys is the realization that guitar is not easy, results are not immediate and you just have to get over it okay? And a lot of times new guitarists will go get it, go get the fact that guitar is difficult and results are immediate but they would not get over it. It is too difficult for them to do it, they kind of just give up so you do not want to do that and this works for advance guys too as you kind of learn more you know, you do not want to just kind of stop because it is too difficult to go on. You know how to play which you love to play already so just give up because there is really nothing more you want to learn because it is too difficult. That is not true, you just have to push through and move on.
The second tip I am going to give you guys is play it without distortion. Turn off the distortion because distortion hides mistakes. It is to easy to just turn on distortion and got to town and without any real idea what you are playing because it is simple. You can just play around on the guitar with some heavy distortion and it sounds pretty cool I mean, let us be honest, it will sound pretty good but you turn off that distortion, you noticed what you are missing, which one is you are kind of flab in, which hammer on, which Benz are not quite perfect and you can improve yourself that way so that is your second tip. Your third and fourth tip is to play what you like and then play something else and the reason this is so important is because you have to play something that interests to start off with and then you have the compliment it with stuff that is going to get you out of that rack, keep you of the rack because if you really love blues and that is what you love to play you know, eventually you are going to hit a wall in which you know how to play, the blues songs that you wanted to learn how to play and now you have to look at something else to kind to keep yourself interested and believe it or not, a lot of different genre has have in roads that all kind of point to each other, jazz is heavily based on the blues.
Country western is heavily based on the blues also. So a lot of these things, believe it or not, intersect so you learn how to play a little bit of the different style and it can help you with the style that you love also so, that will keep you put of the rack because you learn a new things and you do not have to play something you absolutely hate so do not force yourself to learn the Brittney Spears, new Brittney Spears single because that is not going to really help you of what you want and in then fair enough but your last tip is, and this is a good one, to play in front of the television, believe it or not your thirty minutes segment for television, your program is only 21 or 22 minutes of programming, the rest of the time is advertisement so, it is companies trying get you to buy stuff okay, you do not need to hear that crap so hit the mute button and grab your guitar and start playing. That is you know, a minute and I have 2 minutes of the time of just noodling time you are going to get in and that is why I will teach how to play maybe a new song but it is going to help you improve your accuracy, you speed, your hands’ strength especially. So, it can kind of push you forward and make things a little easier for you to play as you require a little more accuracy, a little more speed et cetera. So, there you go, there is your five tips to recap, you want to get over the fact that it is hard to play guitar, it is hard to advance the guitar, stop playing with distortion while you are practicing.
I mean you can do it for fun sure but, you know, when you really want to get serious about getting something right, you need to turn off that distortion really listen to what you are playing.
