Hi everybody, this is Brian Helmic from betweenthelicks.com, here to give you another free guitar lesson today. Today, we were going to talk about some of the various Blues Shuffles and you can follow along by going to the website. You can click the link and the left and you will get the full tabs, full descriptions with every lesson. So, like I said, we were going to talk about the various Blues Shuffle here and we can start with classic one and one thing about the blues is that there is always alternating between the 6th and 7th chord.
6th and 7th chords are really popular in the blues and this classic shuffle is no exemption, so here we go.
(Guitar Demo)
Just between the 5th and 6th at first, now, you can add the 7th
(Guitar Demo)
Like so,
(Guitar Demo)
Little more color,
(Guitar Demo)
Move it up to the A,
(Guitar Demo)
Same pattern.
(Guitar Demo)
Back to the E,
(Guitar Demo)
The B is a bit of a stretch,
(Guitar Demo)
That is not bad.
(Guitar Demo)
Back to the E,
(Guitar Demo)
For the turn around.
(Guitar Demo)
And that was a classic shuffle, you probably heard that a hundreds of times. It is a pretty generic. Another really popular was popularized by a Steve Ray, probably not the first person to do it but, he made a popular with pride and joy. So, let me play that a real quick for you, you got
(Guitar Demo)
Move it up to the A,
(Guitar Demo)
A little different pattern
(Guitar Demo)
Up to the D,
(Guitar Demo)
Back to the E
(Guitar Demo)
For the turn around. Now, this particular shuffle is no exemption. It is got up the
(Guitar Demo)
6th in it,
(Guitar Demo)
And then for the 7th,
(Guitar Demo)
It does dot that on the other B so, as you can see, very engrand in to the blues as the 6th and the 7th.
Now, the last shuffle I am going to show you is the Drop Blues and this one is a little difficult. Now, I could say, it is not too important to get them all perfect notes. You would not left it right perfect because blues is a little static. That is the kind of how you want it. Just about feels, so here we go, we were going to start with the Drop Shuffle, which is dropping in the bass line and this one is going to be A.
(Guitar Demo)
Go up to the D,
(Guitar Demo)
Back to A
(Guitar Demo)
E,
(Guitar Demo)
Like I said, slab is not a big deal because you are trying to invoke an emotion or response with the blues.
So, that is the Drop Shuffle and it follows pretty much the same pattern all the way through as of most blues shuffles is. So, thank you very for joining for this. There will be more lessons, every other day, I will play new lessons. So, I will go ahead over the betweenthelicks.com and check them out. Thank you so much.
