Black BlackBerry Pearl 8110 - Tech Review
Hey guys, what's up? This is SnowLeopard2008 here. For more information, you can find me at twitter.com/snowleopard2008 and also Youtube.com/snowleopard2008. So let's get on with today video.
Today’s video is about a hardware review of my phone the, Blackberry Pearl model 8110. It has GPS and with the GPS you can geo type photos and also find turn by turn directions but that’s only if you have data plan. If you don’t have data plan, you're pretty much stuck with just geo tagging the photos.
Now, let me just go over what the phone has. It has one of these little things you can hook trinkets ion. It has two of these buttons which do pretty much anything you wanted to do. They are using a configurable and options menu, a volume rocker and on top, it has this switch where you can mute what's going on.
It has a standard 20.5 millimeter headset jack, a type A mini USB port and a micro SD slot that support up to eight gigabytes per card. Now I have an eight gig card. And to show you how small a micro SD card is, I just take it out with my finger nail. I don’t see it’s pretty small, It’s roughly the size of my finger nail and hold eight gigabytes, a PNY A gigabyte card. Now I’ll just put it back.
All right, now we’re back in business. So as a standard tackle like most Blackberries do, it has a back lit keyboard. This keyboard is actually pretty good. It’s a QWERTY keyboard and it’s pretty good for typing SMS text. I typed with it and it has special software called sure type and sure type basically finishes sentences for you or words for you. So if you're typing here H-E-R-E or once you just press it H-E-R-E it will automatically insert here for you the word.
So it does work for you well. But you're typing words like show hand or one of web speak like you know, I'm just going to type I-M you type I-M and it doesn’t work that well so what you want do is enable multi top and basically you can type like you would normally on a regular cell phone without the sure type stuff.
It does work pretty well. The screen as you can see, it’s kind of does much with the finger prints and it’s really reflective. But under closer examination, I use it under direct sunlight and it’s actually pretty good. It’s pretty bright; it doesn’t wash with the sunlight.
This phone is solid performer. The microphone port here, so when you're recording a video or something, don’t put your hand or finger here in order to swap the audio. It kind of lacks on multi media features, the phone camera only had a few filters and they really basic filters. My old phone which was an LG K500 Shine it had X-ray or reverse filters. It had all sorts of fun filters for the photo you take. It does have a 2.0 mega pixel camera on the back and it also has a LED flash and also a self portrait mirror.
If you take a part of back panel which is also as glossy and shiny and oily at the front, you’ll find two speakers. I'm not sure with the two speaker actually does. At this point but I think it works together for 2.0 channel audio system or audio output. So, that’s pretty good. The battery last a long time. One of the main things about cell phone is the battery life. The battery life for this phone for me I use it for about one hour for roughly like a few phone calls everyday and SMS text everyday and some light usage on general. So it last me one week on a full battery charge and it gave me my 10% last at the end of the last day, so that’s pretty good in terms of battery life.
For me, I'm not a heavy cell phone user so my battery life might vary from person to person but it is a solid phone. One thing I should mention is that Blackberry has this Led coverage indicator. They will flash red if you have coverage from GSM networks it will continue the flash red after every few seconds. It will flash red when you're recording a video; it will flash green I think. I forgot what it does when it flashes green but it does flash red when you lock the keyboard. It does flash red when you have SMS text. So, it kind of tells you and indicates you what you have in terms of messages or you're doing with this indicator.
So this is a pretty solid phone I dropped it a few times and it doesn’t break that easily and I think its pretty solid choice for most people. Now, you have to clean it a little from time to time and that’s too much it.
So thanks for watching this video. It’s a review of the Blackberry Pearl 8110 model with GPS. So thanks for watching and I hope you guys watch my other videos.
