Derrick Schommer: Welcome to the Sunday Night, Shooters Edition of Common Man Cocktails. I’m your host, Derrick Schommer.
Today, we’re wearing a new shirt actually mom got me this shirt for Christmas. She told me I have to show it off in the show.
Jennifer Schommer: You always listen to your mom.
Derrick Schommer: And she also said I had to mention I show her the back, see it’s got our Common Man Cocktails imagery, so I can mark it myself all around town and anyway we’re going to be making the Black and Blue Cocktail this comes from Julio. Somehow Jennifer put Julie on my props, but I’m guessing because it’s J-U-L-I-O not J-U-L-I-E because she can’t read my writing.
Jennifer Schommer: Yeah, I see white lines.
Derrick Schommer: I think it’s scratched.
Jennifer Schommer; A two year old.
Derrick Schommer: I don’t write like a two-year old, I’m in a rush to get it done. So the Black and Blue is going to have Hpnotiq you know. I’ve had a lot of people sending messages on emails, even YouTube, I’m getting some private messages saying, “I need more Hpnotiq recipes.” Boom, we’ve got one, there’s your Hpnotiq, and I even glued the top back on if you watch the Blue Peria from the last time I used that.
Booked yourself this is going to be the alcohol of the week. It’s been in almost every single episode. Yeah, another one I guess called the pinot noir and there are other people who say never use it again, mixed bag, and what we’re going to do is layer shot, we’re going to do a little Blues, we’re going to start by mixing the Hpnotiq by Hpnotiq with the Blue Curacao which is funny.
So, we’re going to do half ounce of each and there’s our Hpnotiq, and the Hpnotiq I think people ask what Hpnotiq is, it’s you got sensations perfect balance of premium Vodka Cognac in tantalizing natural tropical fruit juices whatever that means. It tastes good to me.
And we’re going to do a half ounce of Blue Curacao also if you want to have information about Blue Curacao is you need to go and check, go to everydaydrinkers.tv, search for orange liqueur tasting, bang, you’re going to get everything you need to know about orange liqueur from my perspective which is a bunch of brands and what they mean, so it’s like orange liqueur is just blue.
I mentioned this is layered, yeah. Shake that up. Now chill it up a little bit, we’ll mix the flavors together. We’re going to pour that into our shot glass. We have a half ounce of Jager, so we’ve got an ounce and a half which I think fits in here. It should but I’m still going to add, it’s always nice to add it.
I’d like to go right to the white line on this portion of, wow! Except for the distortion and how that works when you look at the glass from this side. Now, we’re going to attempt, never done this before, so this could fail miserably. No, I’m going to throw a little more of this in here because this looks so good, really get it up there and we’re going to top it off with Jager, or so we think.
I’m not sure if it’s going to flow, if it’s going to blend, if it’s going to fall, if it’s going to sink. Now it seems to be floating, that’s always nice. Normally, I test this ahead of time, but I also don’t always use my brain oftentimes I don’t use my brain it’s been a long week.
It’s been a long week and the week just begun. This is true, if you understand our recording schedule. So that is the Black and Blue not to be confused as a Black and Tan Beer which doesn’t look anything like this, but the fact that floats so well on top of those mixed, that’s pretty impressive, good to tell you.
Somebody care for this did a good job because that’s a perfect layering, fine lines and so I’m going to estimate, it’s going to taste like tropical herbal. I’ll go with herbal tropics, if I made this one myself. Herbal tropics that’s weird, definitely mouth coding of Jager and got a really like Jager.
So, you’re going to get that Jager after taste, the Jager herbal flavoring. Some people call it medicine and there is the tropical sensation, but overall not a lot of I don’t know about the Blue Curacao, there might be a little orange in there, but it’s very tropical with the nice herbal roundness that just coat your mouth, so think about that.
If you like tropics and you like herbs and you like mixing together, this is the drink for you it’s called the Black and Tan, thank you Julio.
