In this segment, we will some time to review the screen that you would have when you are placing or receiving a phone call.
At the top of the BlackBerry, at the top left, you will that the phone is active and you will see right beside it that the call timer is on. It also says that you are connected. You can see that right here. Therefore, you know exactly that the call is active.
Right under is the person that is calling you or that you have called. This person is part of your address book, the name, phone number, and also type of phone that you are calling, in this case mobile phone would be displayed.
If this person was not in your address book, only the phone number would be displayed. To the right of this, just incase you need this information, your phone number is always indicated. If you were suddenly hit with a memory lost. You could always find your phone number right here.
Right over you phone number on the right side, you can see the volume indicator. To set the volume up, you just press on the side top button and this will bring the volume up. If you need to bring it down, same way by pressing the other button right under to bring the volume down and the volume will be adjusted accordingly.
Just over the volume button are two little arrows, and those two arrows are also indicating that you are actually in active call. So, that basically tells you that your call is going on, and those arrows will be moving from time to time to show you that you are still in the active mode.
During that call, if you need to put the phone on mute, you can do so by pressing the button at the top right of your Blackberry, just over the LDD display. By pressing this button, you will mute the phone and by muting the microphone of your phone, people will not hear the sound coming from your area.
But as you can see the microphone is off but you can still ear the conversation. So, this is great if you are using your hands free headset into a conference call where you want to listen and do not want people to be bothered by background noise. So, you can cut the background noise by pressing mute.
If you want to re-install the microphone, just press on the top button again and the mute button will disappear allowing you to get back right on to your conversation.
Another feature you may want to use while in a phone call is using the speaker phone and the speaker phone button is located at the button right of your device. This is the button where the speaker phone is in a white at the top, just over the dollar sign key. If you want to activate the speaker phone, just press on this button while the call is on.
You will note that at the top left of your device now, you do have a speaker phone indicator that has been activated. Again, this is great if you are using your BlackBerry, the speaker will be activated at the back or if you are using your hands free device. It will also allow you to do other things while listening.
Once you are finish with your call or you finish with your speaker phone, you can press the button again to deactivate the speaker phone and you will note that at the top, the speaker phone indicator will disappear.
Finally, at the bottom of the screen, you will always have the status bar indicating the status time, power consumption, a signal strain the email you received during the call.
Keep in mind also that you have access at all time added it so the BlackBerry menus, you press this button here will always be available for you to provide you with additional options that maybe available during that call. Once the menu is on, you can select from the different areas of the menu or just carry on with your call.
Finally the last option available is the direct access button. The red button will allow you to terminate the call by pressing on it that will basically shut down the caller or hang up, and by pressing the green button, you will either accept the call or initiate calls.
Let us terminate this call right now by pressing on the red button, which should take you back to your main phone function. From here, you can activate new calls, select from the list, different people you would like to call or press the arrow key to your escape key to go back the main menu.
