BlackBerry: How to send an SMS

With your BlackBerry there is a cool way to communicate with other people for quick messages. It is called sending short text messages or SMS and this can be sent also from the message box. Let us see how we can do that. Press the track wheel to access your message box and from the message box, press a track wheel again to compose an SMS.

SMS messages will work between mobile devices. So a mobile phone or a wireless phone only. So you can only contact or enter the information of your contact which has a mobile phone. So compose an SMS, press the track wheel. Select one of the recipients that you know has or you want to contact or has a mobile phone. So let us pick a name here. Press the track wheel. We want to send an SMS to this person. Press the track wheel again and the BlackBerry will show you all the different numbers available for this contact. But you can only send the SMS to a mobile phone number. So always make sure that when you enter a specific contact phone number. Entire the mobile phone number into the mobile section of the contact information field that is for mobile phone only. So in this case we picked this mobile phone. Press the track wheel and sending an SMS is very similar to sending an e-mail. You have a maximum of 160 characters that you can use. So this is really meant for short text messages. So let us enter a quick message that we want to send to this person and once you are finished, similar to other types of messages, you just basically press the track wheel again to send your message. So you can enter the core of your message and you can see on the top of the message how many characters are left in this message. Normally, SMS messages are a maximum of 160 characters. This is why it is meant for short message. Press the track wheel and you are ready to send your message. Your message has now been sent to his mobile phone and hopefully he will reply to us soon.
