BlackBerry Storm Demonstration Hey guys, Jon Rettinger with Jon4Lakers.com here and going to give you a demonstration of the new Blackberry 9530 also known as the Blackberry Storm, the first touch screen Blackberry coming soon to Verizon wireless. For those of you who are Verizon’s folks that have been the eyeing the iPhone but not want to switch Carriers, this is probably a very attractive offer for you, so let’s get cracking with the emulator here. So, you’ll first notice that it’s all touch screen and there will be four buttons along the bottom. It will be a green color button. It could be an old favorite Blackberry button that you see on all of Blackberry devices. They’ll be a back button which is familiar again for Blackberry phones and will be a hang up in the bottom which also take you back to the home screen, so I’ll let you guys see very quickly here the green button hold to your the dial pad very easy dial pad that your number is just like anything else. And you go ahead and get send, so let’s go back to the home screen here. You’ll notice that you’re greeted an eight icon array across the bottom, and the background’s here will be fully configurable, and if you click the background your eight icons suddenly become the 16 icon towards the back of the main menu here, and I’ll walk you through each of these eight. You’ll get everything else in more details. The messages pull up your instant messages. I don’t have any in here, but if you walk to the create a message, you can see how you can compose it in Blackberry messenger SIM or pin and just like the regular back for Blackberry you can type it in and you have a short type of keyboard. Now, what this emulator can’t show is it has the accelerometer and if you turn the phone sideways much like the iPhone you’ll have a full keyboard. The interesting things to know about the Blackberry Storm is that it uses a click button type press on the screen, so actually you have to push in to make contact with what you want to push, so it simulates the actual push of the button. It’s such to be interesting see how that pairs in a real modern environment when we have the actual device. So, SMS again the same thing, you can compose an SMS that looks just like the other menu, and you control through by the use of buttons or ability to flick your finger up and down. Contacts no contacts here but the same, you can search and the — will just to flick scroll through very similar to how it works on the iPhone. Calendar and to be your typical Blackberry your typical —I‘m sorry phone rings there. The typical Blackberry calendar you can add a new appointments at the back you can change how you’re going to view it by month you can say today is Sunday, October 12. You would by day and you can really adjust them you now go through by week in any way you want just like a typical Blackberry nothing terribly revolutionary there adding the fact that it’s a touch screen. The browser, we’ll see if the browser works here. I don’t know if it’s going to work on the emulator, but let’s try Jon4Lakers.com and see if it tells the browser to how it will work here right hey don’t work on the emulator, but we’ll see, and it does seem to be functioning which is nice, so we’ll get a sense of how the browser works. And again, this does have a built-in accelerometer, so you turn the device sideways, it will change to landscape mode, and this is simulating a connection over EVDO which will be Verizon’s 3G networks, so guys you can see how fast it will take for a page like Jon4Lakers.com to load. So, it’s still requesting you to the first time of Blackberry to load to pages a little bit slow. The next time you loaded it’s attach in there and is a little bit quicker, but I want you guys to see what a full fresh load look like. I’ll give you in just another minute so you guys can check it out. Still requesting not the fastest simulated 3G network I’ve ever seen, but I think it’s getting close, finishing up here I’m not so sure, but you can go into even go to work. Okay, so the browser is not fully functioning emulator here, so I guess I’ve wasted that, but you can see how it works when it is functional. Media, very slick media interface here. You have your music or your videos would be. Here’s where your ring tones would show up preload a ring tones, my ring stones and all the preloaded you want. See what it looks like; get your play and your pause and your stop buttons here, shuffle, volume and your time right there. We’ll go back again, here you draw your pictures would show up. We’ll check out of the sample pictures here, and you can see it’s been set as your home screen say where you want to set it for and go to main menu. We’ll go back again, voice notes it has the ability to record voice note something very cool that Blackberry has decided to add on the Storm, so this is a quick overview of the media sections. Clock, nothing really to see here, clock you can set an alarm, see what time it is, make a stop watch, nothing terribly fancy. That came up just by clicking the Blackberry button. I will go back again to the main menu. The camera, we’ll show you the camera button. It wants to take a picture through the webcam, but we’re not going to let that right here is where obviously while we’re taking a picture it will show up. The one cool thing if you hold down the Blackberry button you’ll get a quick four short list of most viewed icons and there’s the home screen it take you back. Now, if you click with your finger just up here, your 870 becomes 16 now you have other options, so this we’ve seen here’s got a built instant messaging client just Blackberry right now. These are all your applications, maps it shows it has built-in GPS. It’s got a memo pad for taking memos, tasks. I’ve seen this for tasks, calculator, a video camera just to record video, voice notes like we saw. Those have a built-in voice styling feature. The password if you unlock the device that you can save messages there. Go back in games. It comes in two built-in games, Brick Breaker and the World Mall. Downloads, where your download shows up in that file, here you can select your profile. Go back here is your connection so you can turn on and off your different connections. This will open up all your options and this is very similar to what you’re used too in regular Blackberries nothing terribly fancy here and you can just scroll right there. The last one here we’ll lock the device, press the lock button to unlock, so I’ll hit that then it locks, it’s how you unlock here. Alright, so the screen is still locked we’ll see how we can find a way to unlock this. The screen is locked. Press the lock button to unlock. Okay, the phone is unlock to here we are back on the screen where we just were, and if we keep scrolling down here you can see there are other options. Let’s go back there actually, set up you can set up your device. Help for the power to search you can search device that music just launches your set to music. Go back to the home screen here. You can’t see it but there are several buttons on the side of the device which will show up when you actually have it right here there will be a convenience key which will launch voice command. Over here the another convenience key which right now I didn’t do anything that will launch the camera when you have the device and you have a volume rack there up and down and the button at the top here for power. If you want to change your profiles very quickly when you have the device, you can just click that little speaker button and you can change it very easily. You get your battery and throw up here in your network connection is right there. So, guys this is just a very quick demonstration of the first touch screen Blackberry 9530 which will be available only for CDMA carriers. Right now there is no launch plan to launch a GSM version, so if you’re on AT&T or T-Mobile you are out of luck. This does look to be a very hot device though, so if you’re with Verizon or anywhere else in the world where this is going to be launch definitely worth checking out. It’s got a very good preview list reviews, and of course the Blackberry so you’ll have excellent email and messaging capabilities. Hey guys, Jon Rettinger with Jon4Lakers.com here and going to give you a demonstration of the new Blackberry 9530 also known as the Blackberry Storm, the first touch screen Blackberry coming soon to Verizon wireless.

For those of you who are Verizon’s folks that have been the eyeing the iPhone but not want to switch Carriers, this is probably a very attractive offer for you, so let’s get cracking with the emulator here.
