Blind Nails

When building solid pine or spruf or any solid wood furniture. It is always nice to be able to burry those nails, hide them. That way you do not have to fill it with a filler and or possibly wood dowel and then sand it of. Because it never takes a stain or a finish the way, you would if it was no filling to do whatsoever. So I am going to show you here is a tip.

Take a half inch wood chisel and very simply hold it about 45 degrees tapping it with a hammer and flaring the grain up. As you can see here, in fact I have done three of them on the sample pieces of one by three Sprufs that I have here. Now you can see what I have done. I have actually taken the chisel and I have flared it open. Now that allows me to take a nail put in underneath. Taking the nails set and setting it adding my wood glue and compressing it back into place clamping it and when the glue is set. All I have to do then is sand stain and finish.
