Welcome to Common Man Cocktail, I'm your host Derrick Schommer. Today we’re going to look at the Blue Carnation. This was a recipe submitted by Ken and this recipe has no liquor or alcohol, no gins, no tequila, no whiskey, no whatever else there is, rum. This is going to be Blue Carousel. I really didn’t use this in a while, Crème de Cacao and some cream. So were going to do half ounce of these two alcohols and we’re going to put in two ounces of cream. So you’re going to get a very neat texture drink. I'm guessing it's going to have a cool color. It probably more like a- you just have one style drink. I haven’t had it yet but I'm making some assumptions here. Oh look at this. Put that out there for now and let it chill out. Pour some ice in here. You’ll throw all that in a cocktail glass. This might be a little big for this drink.
We’ll go with the alsodrinks.com cocktail glass. You can go to everydaydrinkers.TV/awesome if you like one of those. Of course, you have to pay for it but that’s part of how the world works I guess. So we’re going to need a half ounce of blue carousel, dump that in there first. There we go. So little bitter orange, little sweet, little coco, little creamy texture, little awesome. I haven’t used this in a while. Got to use this a little more often. It's sticky and pour that in there, here’s your other half ounce, two ounces of cream or maybe half, depending on your preference heavy cream if you want. This is I believe half-and-half. This is what I have in the house. It's the-I use it for my coffee. It should be hard, shake that up. Explosion, probably that wasn’t quite ready to be open. They got angry at me.
Oh, this looks like a drink we had before. One of that tequila drinks. I can't remember what’s called, but I believe that also had cream and a little blue carousel in it. Kind of looks like a little ice cream, like an ice cream that’s made of blue, with a blue ice cream. Blueberry ice cream? Probably not, I don’t know. Smells like a creamy chocolate. Oh, this could be dangerous. So smooth like silky smooth, subtle. It is kind like an orange and chocolate and actually I think you get a little more of the carousel orange, orange liquor style flavors when mixing it with the crème de cacao because I don’t really know why. It just--it really brings that out in accent sip, as part of this cocktail.
There you go, that is your blue carnation, tasty. Should maybe if you had something heavy for meal, maybe some steaks and meats, and stuff and you're looking for something to end the meal kind of get the little sweet factor. You got a little need for the sweets. You can try the blue carnation, definitely a fun little drink and it's not a lot of alcohol in it.
I don’t really know. I think this is probably like oh 27% and this is probably like 18%, so that’s not too bad. So it's very light drink, yet smooth, silky and something entirely different. I'm your host Derrick Schommer, we’re teaching you how to drink.
