Hey everybody! I am on the Internet. This is BluePhoenix.tv, doing another video and today’s video we are going to be talking about custom firm ware for your pocket PC. This is an HTC or AT&T 8525, also known as the HTC Hermes and one I have installed in here is Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional by PDAVIT.net, so that is PDAVIT.net. And basically, what this is, is a special ram that you are going to install just like you would update your other rams on your phone. And it installs on the phone, flashes the ram chip on the phone and you get Windows Mobile 6.1
What I like about this is the storage space. I have doubled the storage space, the phone originally have it with the official firmware. And almost probably about five or ten more megabytes of free program memory than the phone have with official firmware.
What is also cool about this, with Windows Mobile 6.1 as everybody knows, threaded SMS, all the cool features to that. Much more stable. I have only had one issue with this custom firmware, which is kind of interesting since I have had numerous amounts of issues with official firmware. The issue that I have with the custom firmware, which I actually found affix was the Wi-Fi, the Wi-Fi would not connect. You would connect once and then you turn it off, turn it back on and then this would set there trying and trying…to connect. And finally, I found affix on XTA developers and got it on my phone.
So, with this particular ram on this phone, it comes with preloaded software. And basically, they give you an idea what those are. Adobe reader, flashlight, HTC album, Java, pocket rar, slick, which is an all in one instant messaging application for your Windows Mobile device, sims, flashlight, which is pretty cool because you can tap that and actually turns a light on the phone. “moBlue,” which is a Bluetooth application for searching Bluetooth, registry editor, Wi-Fi scanner, Windows Mobile 5 storage, this is a really cool program.
Windows Mobile 5 storage allows you to turn your phone into like a flashdrive. So you open up this application, activate it. Plug your phone with a USB cable and it will bring it up just like a flash drive when you play your flashdrive in. Be able to use that storage card for more than one thing. Time synchronization, pin back-up, what I have installed on an upper mobile 9.5 data, Skype, the latest Skype edition which was released on July 31st, so if you do not add the latest Skype Mobile, go ahead and get that and there is a new version.
That is about it, everything else is the same more less. Like I said threaded SMS with other cool features. Today plug-in that shows battery life, signal strengths, available memory, the temperature of the phone, what the processor is working at.
