Hi, I’m Franklin Taggart. I’m a guitar player and a guitar teacher. Today, I would like to show you a short and simple turnaround that you can use at the end of a 12-bar blues in the key of A.
The turnaround takes you from the end of the song back to the beginning again. You’ve all learned the A7 chord by now and what you do for the turnaround is you slide the A7 finger in from the second fret all the way to the fifth fret. What you’re going to be doing is picking individual strings from this chord now. You’re going to pick the fourth string [demonstration], second string [demonstration] and then the fourth string [demonstration]. Then slide to the forth fret and pick again. Fourth string [demonstration], second string [demonstration], fourth string [demonstration], slide to the third fret, fourth string [demonstration], second string [demonstration], fourth string [demonstration], slide to the second fret and strum the bottom five strings [demonstration].
Now, the rest of the turnaround you’re going to be picking, the fourth string open [demonstration], first fret [demonstration], second fret [demonstration] and then you’re going to pick the sixth string [demonstration]. And that's how you play the short and simple turnaround. I’m going to demonstrate it to you in a song now.
[Demonstration]
And that's how you play a Blues turnaround in the key of A.
