The type of foul weather or gear you purchase should match the kind of boating you intend to do. Don't let guests on your boat with hard-sole shoes you will spend hours trying to get the black marks off your non-slip fiberglass deck. If you are sailing in summer, especially in tropical climates, sun protection is the essential. Lots of waterproof sun lotion along with appropriate clothing will ensure sunburn free cruise. Serious sunburn is dangerous and fair skin people can burn in just an hour of exposure. Don't expose yourself to the sun between 10 AM and 2 PM. Skin cancer and premature skin wrinkling is not what fun boating is all about.
