Regulations have changed regarding PFD In Canada. This inflatable now counts as a PFD but there is a condition, you have to be wearing it. If it is just on the floor it would not count as a PFD. They are also not approved for use in personal watercraft or for anyone less than 16 years of age or under 36 kilograms.

This old life jacket I am using as a knee pad no longer qualifies since it's torn. But I will keep it in the Canoe as a knee pad for paddling. This counts as a approved PFD so does this Inflatable, since I am wearing it. It's not a bad idea for practice using safety equipment before you really need it. So I am going to try out this inflatable PFD.

That was great. It's got quite a lot of buoyancy, but it feels a little restrictive around the neck. I am glad I tried it and it certainly seems to be keeping me held up nicely in the water.
