Welcome to Common Man Cocktails. I’m your host Derrick Schommer and today we’re going to do the Bomb Pop. This is a user submitted, story, article recipe, uses so many recipe from slugger1983 out on YouTube where we post our videos out there, too. But you should always visit us at everydaydrinkers.tv because our graphic quality just looks better.
So what I wanted to do, before that though is last episode, I forget to mention the winner of our contest for the Tiki god head glasses which will be shipping out to awesome Tom the third, isn’t that not the best name in the world? So, awesome Tom, congratulations on winning the two Tiki god heads.
Now, what I want to do is we’re going to stick with the theme because it worked. I’m going to do Collins glasses. I’m going to go with the frozen Collins glasses a little, a little more money and they’re going to be a set of four. So we’ll order those at awesomedrinks.com, this will go and run until the end of this month, the end of May. So, what I need you to do is go to everydaydrinkers.tv, leave a comment. If you’ve left the comment since the last contest, I’m going to include you because that’s just cool because a lot of people who started leaving comments continue to leave comments each week, suggesting new recipes, so I mean, they’re doing some work for me. Let’s have them part of the contest so if you’ve already done that, you’re in, keep commenting. There we go, that’s all the way.
Now, let’s get to the bomb pop. We’ve changed the recipe up. There’s at least five different ways of doing it. This is my own way, we did some tests. Things we didn’t like, we did like, this is the result. I went out and buy some Bacardi Razz. This is a raspberry rum with Bacardi flavors, so you’re basically getting a standard Bacardi with a cool, real sweet raspberry taste. We’re going to go again with the Curacao. We’ve got some Blue Curacao in here. This was submitted a while ago and sluggers been saying, “Hey, test this out, you got to try it.” So we’re going to try it.
We’re just going to have a little lemon juice. One of the recipes we saw was also lemonade. I don’t have any lemonade, you might not have any, if you have that you can substitute that.
So what I did is, the lemon juice and some 7-Up, it lightens it up a little bit and doesn’t make it a super sweet which is what we found. And then, this is kind of part of the recipe, I added from another variant was a little roses, if you know what a bomb pop is, then you’re already on the right track but if you don’t, it’s like the ice. Is that ice? Yes, sir, the popsicle, right? It’s a popsicle. They have rocket ships. They have different names, rocket pop, I think they call it rocket pop, too. Some of them are full, some have like little wings. They’re not wings but like the deveats on the edges of it.
So basically you get the blue on the bottom, think whites next and then red on the top. What we’re going to do is get rid of the white because this doesn’t work very well and we got white right here, right? And we’re going to do the blue, and this is going to add a little of the red and it’s pretty cool because it tastes like a bomb pop.
So, we’ll add some ice. You notice, no shaker on this one? If you don’t have a shaker, you don’t want to use your shaker, you’re lazy like me, boom, you’re good to go with just this.
So what we’ll do is one ounce of the blue curacao, one ounce to the raspberry which we’re going to put in first. Here, we’ll use this measuring cup here. So, we do one ounce to the raspberry. Put that in there, we’ll do one ounce of blue curacao, next. Throw that in there.
Now what you have here is intense sweetness so we’ll throw in just a little of the nonstop at all. So that’s a half ounce of a freshly squeezed lime and now if you just stopped right here, that’s pretty cool actually. What you basically you’re getting is real thick sweetness, if you like that, you’re done, you could stop. I personally, I like the added 7-Up flavors because it lightens it up and doesn’t make it as super aggressive on the sweet side which is weird considering 7-Up is kind of sweet to begin with. And then what I did is, I added this in here, this Grenadine, mainly because Grenadine always sinks, just a little, you don’t need to go crazy with the Grenadine. That’s your drink. It’s almost a layer drink, it’s got the red on the bottom, I guess it, pretty much as like a bomb pop on a border. Let’s give it a try.
First the scent just even brings it up to your mouth. Smells like that little blue popsicles, just the blue part and what I do with them is I eat them in the layers and then I save the blue for last and this is basically what you have.
So there’s that raspberry little grenadine. It should get a little pomegranate sweet cherry type flavors over although the best way to describe it is the blue part of the bomb pop. If you like that, you’re going to love this drink.
Thanks slugger1983 for submitting this recipe, the bomb pop and check out awesomedrinks.com because of the down economy, things aren’t looking so good. People are staying home, I mentioned last time, look at this little article that this journalist wrote up about how the economy’s doing crappy.
People are making drinks at home rather than buying $12.00 drinks at the bar, so go to ever awesomedrinks.com, buy some crap, buy some low bottle glasses, you know what, maybe then when the Tiki god head contest, you could go buy those, They’ll give you free shipping, just put it in the discount code, everyday you got free shipping. Also just say, you mention it from us, even though that cost is going to kind of make it obvious. I want him to know that the viewer is like his stuff, like our show.
That’s your bomb pop. Also check out our sponsor, Cavalino Tequila, it’s 93 rating tequila. This is $23.00 in Texas. They’re branching out so if you’re in Texas, you just need to go get this today, just stop, put it on post and run. If you’re not in Texas, look around, see if you could find that label, check this stuff out, we’ve had people who’ve already written and saying, we tried it. We found it, it’s awesome, thank you.
Now I thank you, here you go, that’s the bomb pop, I’m your host Derrick Schommer, we’re teaching you how to drink.
