Interviewer: First of all let’s talk about what you don’t like about the kitchen?
Female: I do not like the nuke edges outdated; want it to change the cushions and the table.
Interviewer: Well this is pretty easy then, I recover the cushions, the table top you like the tile
floor, you obviously like tile and one thing we could do that would kind to make
this is own conversation piece is the tile bring it up at the border around the table
and have a big one to be and put your mask thing down and I think this place is
broken tile pieces and that is really liven up this whole area. Maybe there is
something when the curtains are here, I do like the shutters but we are definitely
buying that up.
Carey Evans: This is your material is what we are going to use to put in the windows to
enlighten up your kitchen once you get to the end call me over okay.
Allan Nunez: A little bit, honestly I wouldn’t never thought I would be sawing. But it’s not that
bad, not quite but I’m getting there.
Carey Evans: You have now just made yourself a nice finish edge, what I know is really hard to
put elastic through seem like that so I will be put a safety pin right into beginning.
See that? It works it through and great look at that. So as you see this is your old
cushion, what we are going to end of doing is just covering this existing final.
That is a false free fabric to have your weight I did change out the needle and now
we’re just going to finish this scene and then will be able to stop our cushions and
tied them up and set them aside in a nice clean place and that’s ready to install
them.
Interviewer: We’ve got one more project to tag off for the breakfast though. So Allan you are
going start with Carey here on the table. You are going to cut that thing down and
then you guys are talking about the pattern, design, tile all that’s stuff and the
important thing is we’re reusing what’s already there so we not wasting the
material.
Carey Evans: And you want to put a steal edge on it?
Interviewer: I think if we do a steel edge just like the big wooden edge we will just give them a
nice clean look a thing. Alright guys.
Carey Evans: Okay, we’re just going to getting rid of this side. Much grab that base we are
going to be reusing the old base that we had, this is going to be the temporary
edging because this edging is going to be metal we are going to put on the wood
edge just for a temporary lip. Now we need to do is get all the tiles together, we
have some nice glass pieces that we’re going to break into a mosaic pattern and
make sure we have all over safety gear on and we just going to break them.
Interviewer: You could buy glass tiles and lots of different colors at any home improvement
center.
Carey Evans: And it’s act as a little bit of a tumbler to get off some of the hard edges on the
glass.
Interviewer: Carey and Allan are sanding the all finish out the kitchen table so they can start to
tile.
Carey Evans: Now we can apply this thin set, now let’s work quickly we’re going to start
putting in our side pieces then will starting with our glass with mosaic that’s
really no pattern. Now once we’re done laying all of our glass pieces then the
grout.
Interviewer: Well they finish styling some sparks with the table’s decorative edge. So we are
going to this metal frame and put them in screw tabs and grind down the corners
like always, grind on the wheels and making look pretty. Take this better around
the table, grout it then we can do the rusting effect on the outside and call the
table done.
Carey Evans: This is what we have for your metal surround right now in your table and after
two treatments we are going to turn into something like this.
Allan Nunez: Wow.
Carey Evans: So our first coat is as simple spray coat that is going to give us a nice accent for
your table. Now, for this secondary step dab it around just like that with the
sponge brush and then you blow the excess off and that’s it.
Allan Nunez: Hold on?
Carey Evans: Hold on, the tables definitely get an heavier.
Allan Nunez: Oh yeah.
Carey Evans: Okay and a little finishing white kind to get off that extra haze.
Interviewer: Guys that looks great, I love this detail here. And the curtains awesome, good job,
good job, good job see you got a future in this. Remember what it look like
before, we have the orange walls, you have the countertops you hated and the
table that you didn’t like, the couches didn’t look that great, Allan you and Carey
sold some new curtains, cut that table down, you tiles the top and looks fantastic.
You saw the old cushion, they look great you saw a little bit and turn a little bit.
