Breast Self-Exam Tips Dr. Travis Stork: The unknown is very common and many women fear doing themselves breast exam. Well, there's something that can help make a breast exam a little bit easier, and Dr. Lisa, you're going to tell us all about it. Dr. Lisa Masterson: We have a breast exam kit, the mark for life. And this is basically a t-shirt that women can wear to help them do their breast exam. So many women are afraid to do this, because they don’t know how. This makes it easy, you basically line up the X with your nipple, and so you're going to have this t-shirt on and you're going to first do it laying down, and you're just going to follow the arrows, and just go around, and usually I tell the patient you are just going to examine the breast in a systematic fashion, like a target, towards the nipple, which is exactly what this shirt beautifully points out. So if you just follow this and basically, if you feel anything, the great thing about the shirt is if you fell a lump or something, then you could mark it here on the shirt, and then you can go into your doctor, and say that’s where I felt the lump and then your doctors that can kind of coordinate that with your exam, and this makes it great to be able to share the information. But the real thing about the breast self-exam is that you get to know your breast, not so much looking for masses but this helps women remember how to do it, it's a great fun way, it's easy. Dr. Drew Ordon: I think it is. Dr. Travis Stork: What I love about that concept is women are afraid of self-breast exams, but the worst part is if you feel something awkward and then you get into the doctor’s office and you can’t find the spot, you may feel frustrated.
