Breastfeeding - Nightime Feedings

Susan Schulman: Night feeding is always a big question, how long do I have to nurse my baby during the night? What we found is, that one feeding in the middle of the night, really boosts the levels of hormones and make the nursing go better, and they end up having more milk, and the effect of not ovulating works better, going along stretch like more than eight hours, tends to have effect that the breast get very full and hard and rocky, and baby has a little trouble nursing on them in the morning, but the mother likes getting the sleep, so we leave it between the mother and the baby. Most desperate babies are still nursing at night, till six months at least one time, but that's just a general thing, that's not a rule, some babies are really god sleepers, and if the baby is sleeping very long hours, they end up nursing much more often during the day. So you can't follow these rules about timing. If the baby slept for ten hours, you're just probably going to nurse every hours after that, and that's normal. Some mother will rather trade off their sleep through their busy time during the day.
