Hannah: I am Hannah with John, he is a senior stylist at Joe Carol. Let us talk about trends and some key tips for your big day. John you had been a stylist now for 16 years.
Jon: Yeah.
Hannah: Have you seen any major trends and what brides are asking for in terms of style?
Jon: It is going from pleats to plats, from plats to lotionions, from lotionions to a very kind of textured loose like for example Elizabeth Hurley aspent kind of ways which kind of come around. So, over the years you see how it is changed but that is changed because obviously, I know feel that there is a lot more younger brides getting married now so they want something more kind of not so stiff looking.
Hannah: So, if you look at brides like Elizabeth Hurley and Jennifer Aniston they went for a very naturally wavy style but they are at many different types of ways.
Jon: You have got corkscrew, aspent, and you got common curls which you obviously create, you know, and rods. You know this kind of variation of curls do different things but the main one that has been used quite recently is very loose soft aspent curls for example with Elizabeth Hurley, very simple scraped back and just basically brought around at one side.
Hannah: It is quite a natural look as well.
Jon: Yeah, very natural but you got to be careful that obviously prep work is done properly because these types of things is so naturally that they do not fall out quickly on the day.
Hannah: Now in terms of when you are looking for your hair dresser for the big day, how should a bride go about it?
Jon: Why where the mouth recommendation and obviously to go to good salons, I would advice to kind of have a few trials with different people so you get to know them and have a feel of their work and so on and that always kind of helps because then the hairdresser would know what you are basically looking for.
Hannah: So in terms of preparation, should she come with a mood board?
Jon: I think everybody should basically come with a scrap book from nails to hair to even the shoes that they are going to wear. It is very important for the hairdresser knows how the women dress is going to look also for where the hair is going to be up or down.
Hannah: And, when it comes to the trials, how far in advance should she start coming to see her hairdresser.
Jon: There is no real time, I mean would say the minimum probably be eight weeks. I think, the earlier you do it, you know, the better the idea you get and you kind of develop with your hairdresser along the way.
Hannah: And, of course hairdressing saloons now have so many stylists and I know here at Jay Carol you have got nails and beauty.
Jon: Absolutely, yeah. I mean, we offer a very wide range of services from manicures to pedicures beauty.
Hannah: Even the makeup.
John: Even the makeup from waxing, you know, I lash tinting and so on. So, it is very broad, I mean, you can have literally everything done in one house.
Hannah: And presumably, the bride wanted she could out. She call you from the saloon and organize for you all to come up.
John: We offer that service as well. We can go out as a bit more of a personalized service. You know there are some brides kind of get intimidated coming in to a big saloon and she feels that, you know, the focus is on them, they are watched at the saloon. But, we do actually come home and do it, you know, that kind of way to.
Hannah: So, she presumably could wake up in the morning and have her dresser there and her manicurists.
Jon: Every girls dream, absolutely.
Hannah: I know what it is like. And, finally do you have any tips for looking good in photographs what should the bride bear in mind when she is about to pose for a picture.
Jon: Well, I think obviously it is good to kind of change the angle of the face and also maybe kind of move the hair around maybe. I mean, if you have good soft cascading curls then you can move it from one side to the other to…
Hannah: To correct.
Jon: Yeah, absolutely. You know, you get a different look so…
Hannah: Okay.
Jon: You know and maybe we can put a little bit of a sponge.
Hannah: Any other tips on looking good for your hairstyle for your big day.
Jon: I think prior to obviously having your trials you should really kind of use good shampoo and conditioners and treat your hair very well. But as you know, you know Brides Magazines and Vogue they kind of do give top tips for that. So, pretty much it.
Hannah: Really, thanks very much John.
Jon: No problem thank you.
