Male1: Okay so a few weeks ago one of our big photo bulbs that powers the key lights went out and it made this awesome explosion inside and we did not know what to do with it. But, it but it looked really cool so I gave it the west to say, “Hey, men common I know you can do something fun with this and you have done so many fun stuff with LEDs.” So let us take look
Male2: Everything to work with
Male1: I love to write, so what do we got here?
Male2: It is basically it is a photosensitive light so when the lights go dim it comes on
Male1: So it is a geek night light?
Male2: Basically, awesome. It also doubles as a really good beginner’s project to getting into electronics.
Male1: Hey, that is a great.
Male2: Yes, I thought so and you guys are actually you had planned on doing a lot more electronic sessions such as a good place to start and basically what we are looking at is it looks more complicated what it is. It is actually very simple circuit once you get pass the wiring diagram which is actually through me for a week to look like.
Male1: Now where do you get inspired by this?
Male2: This actually came of with a hardware hack that I saw on both instructables and I hacked--.
Male1: Great websites if you have not been there
Male2: Oh, yes it is a great great resource to find projects. People would have to come up with and if you want to repeat them yourself but the original project was a bulbs bottle.
Male1: Okay, so were you using a big photo bulb here but you could also use a bottled bulbs or Crovasiye whatever you want.
Male2: Yes, yes you can use Crovasiye and whatever strikes you can see whatever you have on hand, which we just decided to use to use this light bulb.
Male1: But if you are working with glass please exercise caution specially if you are going to cut on light bulb like this one because you are working with glass.
Male2: Sharp edges.
Male1: And it is vacuum in all that fun start.
Male2: Every vacuum is not to be a problem if you happen to break the glass so you know--.
Male1: It is fairly extreme caution.
Male2: Yes, follow all, sharp safety--.
Male1: As always with any models that you do. So can you walk us through how this thing works?
Male2: Okay, basically what we have here is a none volt battery right here. Then that is obviously so behind power. “Wow! Oh, my goodness!” And two resistors here one is a hundred keon resistor and the other one is a 460 I think.
Male1: Okay.
Male2: It eludes me at this moment and that they are both connected to the positive line and the lesser of the two resistors it goes to the LED and LED goes to this NPN types switching transistor.
Male1: So that is really the brandable.
Male2: This is what is making it work because we have two electrical currents running here the 100 keon resistor is connected to our .photo resistor on the back here.
Male1: Okay.
Male2: Right there.
Male1: So that is what is giving it a special sauce. So if we can see that the LED is shining right here because it is getting up.
Male2: But I exposed to the light and the LED goes out.
Male1: Oh! I see. So when the light goes out the LED goes on.
Male2: Oh, yes!
Male1: Awesome.
Male2: The way this little photo thing works is better as it works is more light they have more conductive they are.
Male1: Okay, so it is stealing electricity from a battery then.
Male2: It is by passing the current going to the light, so we still have a continuous electrical current so it is actually working but the light is not getting power.
Male1: Cool.
Male2: And do by it stop being conductive and then the LED gets the power.
Male1: And you also seem to built a pretty spiffy little kind of--I do not know it is got an oriental fields to it. We will enclosure for this bulb here and so can we put this all together and see what it looks like?
Male2: Yes, and of course you know if I were doing like in the apartment thing I would tighten this all up.
Male1: Right
Male2: I just need [Voice Overlap]. Yes, red board definitely I just want to make sure I can illustrate this circuitry a little bit be
