The major construction proportion of my side yard garden is complete and now I can really bring my garden to life by installing a water feature. I am using easy to find material readily available at your local building supply. Earlier, I filled this raised bed about half way with stone dust left over from my paving project.
Now, I dig a hole for the bottom of the pond. Once I get the pond liner stable and level I can add in the soil which I back filled tightly around the pond liner. Next, I placed some Pennsylvania filled stone around the edge to give it a more natural look. Now I am going to set up a pump and my filter system for my pond. I will just have a little pump here, it is a little fountain pump. I just need something to circulate the water. This is going to circulate between 40 and 80 gallons per hour so it is perfect for this size.
Now, for my tubing, I am going to need to clamp it on. So, I have got these little clamps that already has the screw drilled in as you turn it, it gets tighter. So I am just going to put it on this, I am going to take the screw driver and screw it tightly.
I put in about one to two inches of gravel on the bottom of the pot and I am going to now take the pump and place it in there. I am going to make it kind of long for right now. Now, I am going to finish filling the pot with gravel, I have the other end of the rubber hose and I am going to put the clamp on it and put that on this little foggy here. This little foggy is going to set it right here.
So I have got my pump in my little filter system which is just a pot with gravel in it and then I have my little frog here that is going to spit out the nice clean water into the pond. All I have to do now is to fill up my pond.
For this project I have sweet potato vine, mint, acacia the toothache plant, some blue fescue, yarrow, etosha bush and a clematis plant. I also have a variety of water irises for the pond. So, get to the store and buy your pond and start drawing your plants for you water feature today. I am Patty Moreno the garden girl thanks for watching.
