Dr. Marc Savant: Hi! I’m Dr. Marc Savant and welcome to Savant MD. Today’s wellness tip is about Burns. Did you know that over a million people a year suffer from the effects of burns? And if third of those end up in an emergency room. Superficial burns will turn the skin red and dry and will blench when you press on it. That means that the skin will turn white when you press on it. These superficial burns would used to heal within three to six days without scaring. The first thing you should do when you try to treat is to remove any metal objects like jewelry, and then cool the skin with cool water or sailing. There are other burns that can be more serious. These burns will not blench when you press on them; that means the skin will turn white when you press on it.
