Arthur St. Antoine: Cadillac CTS-V, this is the stand that in a recent motor trend comparison test spanked BMW's illustrious M5. In addition to its evergreen tin suspension, the CTS-V Sports a 6.2L Supercharged V8, making 556 HP, running through the rear wheels to an automatic transmission.
This is going to be one of the fastest Sedans you will ever see it in a race track. Let's check it, at Mazda Race Laguna Seca. Randy just had a chance to drive the Super Cadillac CTS-V with 556 supercharged horsepower? What you think.
Randy Pobst: That's a driver's car. I have really enjoyed that car. It's the kind of car that you can drive with a little power over the steering, which is something I like.
Arthur St. Antoine: Noticed you doing that.
Randy Pobst: Yeah, in fact keep this quite. I like it better than the Corvette. In terms of handling, the CTS-V is well balanced, minimal understeer, it's pretty easy to knock it loose with the throttle, but that's because it's so powerful. So I had to slow my throttle foot down, feet that in, role it in and that worked really, really well, has a lot of braking power. They did get warm and started getting smelly but again I think that's because they are new.
I bet if I went back out again, it probably wouldn't do that. The pedal stayed up, it stopped really well. The car turns in really well but in a predictable fashion. It's not a soft car, it's controlled not harsh but controlled. I am really very pleased with the Cadillac, made a lot of good noises, good low rumbling, macho-manly and God bless American noises.
