Cafe Green Salad Recipe
All ready I’m going to make the best café green salad you’ve ever had and I’ve got a secret ingredient to do it with. So let me grab my balsamic vinegar. Now if you’ve ever been to Paris you know but you have to eat where the locals eat. That’s were you going to get the really yummy food for like no money. So when we leave them Paris we had our favorite café that we go to all the time and the Murrah that’s were we live it was in the Murrah and they just had the best green salad with this amazingly simple but just super delicious dressing. So after being regular there for like two years I felt like I could finally ask the owner what his secret was, so he told me and now I’m telling you so and that’s fun you’ve got the inside scoop on my favorite Parisian café salad.
All ready olive oil and I just need a bowl. I’m going to use a wooden ball here and I’m going to take one clove of this garlic cut it in half and rub the flavor on to the inside of this wooden ball. All ready you don’t really have to peel it just the big peels off because I’m just going to be rubbing the inside so slice that clove of garlic right in half. Check the inside and just rub the garlic and some parts of the flavor into the bowl and when I make the dressing some of that flavor will whisk drive into the dressing.
You know I have to tell you I love making my own dressing. I think it is so cost efficient because you only make what you use and you know it takes just a minute but it really takes your dressing to a whole new level and your whole salad just feels special and with my secret ingredient this is going to be extra special.
I’m putting in about a teaspoon of dish on mustard which is the base for a lot of Parisian or French vinaigrettes and kind of help emulsify the dressing and it gets it a nice body and tan. Just about a tablespoon of balsamic vinegar, a little salt and pepper and always good to put in your salad dressing so it mixes throughout your salad and now the secret ingredient right over here a little splash of soy sauce. I know I was surprised too but this little splash taste so good. You know, that its soy sauce it just imparts the saltiness it goes right through your salad trust me when I say this is perfect.
All right I’m going to swizzle in, some extra virgin olive oil. I’ve got greens on top of the dressing that I made, the fabulous Parisian café dressing and I’m going to go ahead and toss the salad or as the French say I’m going to fatigue the salad by adding the dressing and tossing the greens there we go. I like that because the salad does a little fatigue after you toss it. So I love it the French cool of that and here we go and this whole bowl cost under $3.00 to make like café green salad tosses makes greens with a classic mustard vinaigrette.
